The British Admiralty announced that Belgian steamer Ville
de Mons was reported sunk on

September 1940.
British machines made daylight attacks on convoy of tankers
off mole of Zeebrugge, one ship exploded.
During night the British Royal Air Force (RAF) heavily bombed
invasion bases on enemy coasts.
Italians. crossed Egyptian frontier and occupied Sollum and
Customs post at Musaid.
During long daytime raid bombs fell on Buckingham Palace wrecking
Royal Chapel and injuring, three employees. Incendiaries were
dropped on Downing St. but no damage was done, Oil bomb damaged
roof of House of Lords. Big hospital bombed for second time.
Many incendiary bombs dropped.
Attacks made on several, districts in Southeast England. Considerable
damage to one Essex town, but no casualties. Later, bombs
fell in one district of Central London, in Eastbourne and
in Kent and Surrey. Incendiaries also fell in Northern Ireland.
During night raiders new over London area in relays at 10-minute
intervals. Incendiary bombs fell in South West square. A Post
Office and a library were wrecked and many shops damaged.
In South Wales bombs caused damage in one town. Luftwaffe
lost two aircraft Britain none. River service of water buses
inaugurated between Westminster Bridge and Woolwich.
