Germany's ports are blockaded.

In the course of an extensive reconnaissance of northern and western Germany during the night of 3-4 September 1939, the British Royal Air Force (RAF) dropped more than 6,000,000 copies of a propaganda leaflets to the German people.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) carried out an evening in aid on Wilhelmshaven and Brunsbüttel.

German battleships heavily damaged.

Heavy fighting on the Polish fronts, and the Polish claimed the recovery of several towns in the north west but admitted the loss of Czestochowa, the upper Silesian frontier.

The Luftwaffe conducts more air raids over Warsaw.

France started operations on land and sea and air.

Evacuation of 650,000 children and adults from London is completed.

Mr Chamberlain broadcast a message in German to the German people, in which he made it clear that Britain's quarrel is with the German regime and not the people.

Egypt broke off diplomatic relations with Germany.

Japan decided upon neutrality.

German income tax increased to 50%.

Germany proclaims that the sinking of the SS Athenia was arranged by Churchill to create ill feeling between Germany and the United States of America.
