The Polish President M Moscicki resigned the presidency of
Poland. A statement from the Polish Embassy in Paris, announced
the constitution of a new Polish government with M Raczkiewicz
as president and general Sikorski as Premier and Minister
of War.
The Warsaw garrison began to leave the city.
Successful reconnaissance flights were carried out by the
British Royal Air Force (RAF) over Germany. Five British aircraft
reconnoitering on the Western front, were engaged in an air
battle with 15 Luftwaffe fighters at a height of 20,000 feet
over German territory and suffered some casualties.
The air ministry announced that theBritish Royal Air Force
(RAF) pilots have flown at a height of only 600 feet above
the Siegfried line and made a valuable photographic survey
of gun in placements and other defences.
The Danish steamer Vendia is sunk by German U-boats off The
Scaw.
