History

The 3. Räumbootsflottille was formed in 1939 and was initially commanded by Hugo Heydel, this flotilla was made up of the following 1937-43 Type R-boats and was deployed for minesweeping and security duties.

The 3. Räumbootsflottille was virtually destroyed on the 30 August 1944 after the ships crews scuttled and blew up their ships however the flotilla was reformed on 1 March 1945. Under the command of Helmut Klassmann.

After the war ended 3. Räumbootsflottille was deployed for minesweeping by the The German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA) in the Baltic sea.

The 3. Räumbootsflottille was deployed for minesweeping and security duties in the North sea.

1941
The 3. Räumbootsflottille was dismantled and transported overland to Regensburg and later moved to Danube.

1941
The 3. Räumbootsflottille was deployed for minesweeping and security duties in the Black sea.

30 August 1944
The 3. Räumbootsflottille destroyed their own boats by scuttling and blowing them up at Varna due to the Russian advances.

1 March 1945
The 3. Räumbootsflottille was reformed.

1945
The 3. Räumbootsflottille was deployed for minesweeping and security duties in the Baltic sea.

1945
The 3. Räumbootsflottille was deployed for minesweeping by the The German Mine Sweeping Administration (GMSA) in the Baltic sea.
