Marauder medium bombers bomb Rinnthal rail bridge with aim
of isolating 3 enemy armoured divisions in Landau area. XXIX
Tactical Air Command fighters escort the medium bombers. Weather
prevents other operations.
Twelfth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) medium
bombers attack bridges at Palazzuolo sull'Oglio, Pontetidone,
Romano di Lombardia, and assembly area at Crespellano. Fighters
and fighter-bombers in excellent day against command in West
and Central Po Valley and other points in North Italy make
numerous rail cuts, destroy or damage many vehicles and trains
and effectively hit ammunition and fuel dumps, guns, and strong
points along United States Fifth Army front in the North Apennines.
Fifteenth Air Force. Bad weather permits only reconnaissance
missions.
Eastern Air Command (EAC). Colonel Minton W Kaye assumes command
of Photo Reconnaissance Force, a component of Eastern Air
Command (EAC).
Tenth Air Force. 8 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-47
Thunderbolt fighters hit division Headquarters at Ho-na while 4
others support ground forces in Si-U sector. 90 fighter-bombers
hit supply areas, tanks, antiaircraft positions, and troop
concentrations at Man Kat, Tonghsim, Kong-lin, Bawdwin, Mong
Tat, and in Hsenwi vicinity. 488 transport sorties are flown
to forward areas.
Fourteenth Air Force. 6 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit railroad targets, road bridge,
and building area Northeast of Thanh Moi. 25 P-40 fighters,
P-38 Lightning fighters, and P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers
hit targets South, South West, and Northeast of Wanling. 8
P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers bomb railroad repair shops at
Sinsiang while 3 P-40 fighters hit road West of Muse, causing
traffic block.
Far East Air Force (FEAF). Amphibious forces of United States
Sixth Army begin landing on shores of Lingayen Gulf at 0930.
In North Luzon, B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Mabalacat
while B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, A-20 Havoc light bombers,
and fighter-bombers destroy several bridges and numerous vehicles
and trains throughout Luzon, and bomb several airfields. B-24
Liberator heavy bombers also hit Nielson airfield and Nichols
Field. Far East Air Force (FEAF) aeroplanes make small-scale
attacks on barges, airfields, and targets on Mindanao, Halmahera,
Ceram area, North Borneo, and on Timor.
Twentieth Air Force. 39 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's from Chengtu bomb harbour
at Kirun. This raid is first of several such operations against
Formosa in conjunction with the United States invasion of
Luzon. 6 B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's bomb last resort
targets along China coast. 72 Marianas based B-29 Superfortress
heavy bomber's are dispatched against Musashino aircraft plant
near Tokyo. High winds break up formations so that only 18
very heavy bombers can bomb the primary target. A large number
hits alternates and targets.
Seventh Air Force. 24 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, based on Saipan, hit airfields
on Iwo Jima which is struck again by 8 heavy bombers on individual
snooper missions during 9-

January 1945.
Eleventh Air Force. For the first time the Eleventh radar-bombs
with H2X equipment as 4 B-24 Liberator heavy bombers hit Suribachi
Bay airfield.

launched against England, hit Beckenham.

launched against England, hit South Ockendon.
V-2 rocket
launched against England, hit near Sawbridgeworth.
V-2 rocket
launched against England, hit Basildon.
V-2 rocket
launched against England, hit Deptford.
