missions.
Twelfth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) Transports
carry out evacuation and supply missions in South Europe.
Fifteenth Air Force. All Fifteenth Air Force aircraft stand
down on V-E Day. Fifteenth Air Force offensive operations
end. Subsequent operations involve transport, supply, try,
and movement flights.
Fourteenth Air Force. 13 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-25 Mitchell medium bombers knock out bridge at Do Cam and
damage others at Do Len, over the Song Chu River, and North
of Kaifeng. A single B-24 Liberator heavy bombers damages
bridges at Huto. 20 P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers pound rail
and road traffic along Indochina coast while 12 P-51 Mustang
fighter-bombers and P-38 Lightning fighters hit targets in
several cities. About 100 fighter-bombers over wide areas
of South and East China continue to hit numerous targets,
concentrating on shipping and dock area at Taku.
Far East Air Force (FEAF). United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
P-38 Lightning fighters hit Jesselton, Sengkawang, and Kudat
airfields while B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb Kuching
and Labuan airfield areas. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, B-25
Mitchell medium bombers, and fighter-bombers continue to pound
Cagayan Valley. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers hit Davao while
P-38 Lightning fighters hit Labugan airfield area. Other B-24
Liberator heavy bombers bomb Mandai airfield. B-25 Mitchell
medium bombers bomb railway installations between Phan Rang
and Binh Dinh.
Twentieth Air Force. 40 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber's hit airfields at Kanoya,
Miyakonojo, Oita,
and Matsuyama.
Seventh Air Force. 12 Guam based 1324's United States Army
Air Force (USAAF) bomb airfields on Marcus. 12 others from
Guam pound runway on Param Island.
VII Fighter Command. United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
P-51 Mustang fighter-bombers from Iwo Jima fly 94 effective
sorties in strike against Kisarazu airfield.
