Taohwaping, Hengyang, Tungkow, and Changsha.
Far East Air Force (FEAF). Despite bad weather United States
Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers over Formosa
bomb various command targets and alcohol plant at Meiji. B-25
Mitchell medium bombers, A-20 Havoc light bombers, and fighter-bombers
pound Cagayan Valley targets. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers
bomb Piso Point, and fighter-bombers support ground action
in Bukidnon area. P-38 Lightning fighters hit Sandakan, Keningau,
and Tarakan Island. B-25 Mitchell medium bombers hit shipping
at Balikpapan harbour and nearby barracks area and sawmill.
Twentieth Air Force. During 20-
21
May 1945, 30 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-29 Superfortress
heavy bomber's mine Shimonoseki Strait, Maizuru harbour, and
He-Saki anchorage.
Seventh Air Force. 16 Saipan based United States Army Air
Force (USAAF) P-47 Thunderbolt fighters strafe airfields on
Moen and Eten and seaplane base and barges of Dublon. 10 Guam
based B-24 Liberator heavy bombers hit air operations building
on Marcus. 9 P-47 Thunderbolt fighters from Ie Shima hit hangar
and 2 boats at Fukue Shima. 32 others hit airfields, railroads,
buildings, and radar facilities on Kyushu.
