Twelfth Air Force. In Italy, B-25 Mitchell medium bombers
bomb the Albano Laziale road junction; P-40 fighters bomb
Cori, while A-36 Apache dive bomber hit Poggio Mieteto and
P-47 Thunderbolt fighters attack the station at San Valentino
fighters cover the Anzio battle area. Detachment of 91st Fighter
Squadron, 81st Fighter Group, operating from Capodichino,
Italy with P-39 fighters, returns to base at Montecorvino
Airfield. During February 1944, Headquarters 81st Fighter
Group and 93d Fighter Squadron transfer from Castelvetrano,
Sicily to Montecorvino Airfield with P-39 fighters. During
February 1944, ground echelon of 417th Night Fighter Squadron,
Twelfth Air
Force (attached to British Royal Air Force (RAF) No. 337 Wing)
transfers from Ghisonaccia to Borgo, Corsica; air echelon
is at La Senia, Algeria with Beaufighters.
