Twelfth Air Force. XII Bomber Command B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers bomb Mestre marshalling yard while B-26 Marauder medium bombers hit highway chokepoint at Isernia, highway at Mignano, and road junction at Formia. P-38 Lightning fighters strafe Araxos airfield. Northwest African Tactical Bomber Force (NATBF) planes on road blocking missions hit targets at Teano, at Alfedena, between Cassino and Capua, and near Sessa Aurunca. XII A Support Command P-40 fighters and A-36 Apache dive bomber attack roads and vehicles North of United States Fifth Army battle zone and patrol Naples area. Fifth Army reaches South bank of Volturno River. Capua falls to British units.

Fourteenth Air Force. 7 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-40 fighters from Suichwan intercept an attacking force of 27 bombers and 21 Zeros. 1 bomber and mainly in Isernia area and North to Avezzano. British King's Dragoon Guards (with United States Fifth Army) occupy Naples. British Eighth Army troops occupy Foggia airfields.

Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers sweep along coastal areas of New Britain and through islands to the North and West, bombing and strafing targets.

Thirteenth Air Force. 8 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-39 fighters and 8 Navy F4U Corsair fighter strafe barges off West coast of Choiseul. 24 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and 14 P-38 Lightning fighters carry out low-level strike against Kahili airfields, damaging or destroying several parked aircraft.
