Eighth Air Force. About 340 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) heavy bombers led by 2 Pathfinders attack industrial areas of Emden. 6 of 72 B-26 Marauder medium bombers dispatched bomb Saint Omer, Longuenesse airfield, unable to identify target because of cloud formations above it, remainder of aircraft refrain from bombing.

Twelfth Air Force. General Saville becomes Commanding General, XII Fighter Command. Weather curtails operations. Fighter-bombers of XII A Support Command attack motor transport, roads, and bridges during al med reconnaissance missions from Volturno Valley North to Isernia and West to Benevento.

Fourteenth Air Force. 5 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-40 fighters divebomb and strafe Yangtze River shipping in Chiuchiang area. Strafing damages several small craft.

Fifth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers strafe villages in Talasea area and barges off Gasmata. B-26 Marauder medium bombers bomb Hoskins airfield. A B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bombs Cape Gloucester airfield. Other B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Amboina. Australian forces take town and harbour of Finschhafen and prepare to take nearby commanding positions still held by the Japanese.

Thirteenth Air Force. 6 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers join Navy dive bombers in attacking Hamberi Cove barge hideout near Vila.
