Eighth Air Force. General Kepner succeeds General Hunter as Commanding General VIII Fighter Command.

Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). Northwest African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers hit Orte marshalling yard, and B-26 Marauder medium bombers bomb Torre Annunziata. Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) fighters escort the Northwest African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) bombers, hit rail junction at Bagnara, bridge and town of Angitola, gun positions in Villa San Giovanni-Reggio di Calabria areas, and marshalling yard at Lamezia.

Fourteenth Air Force. 9 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers, with fighters escort, bomb airfields at Chingmen.

Fifth Air Force. 35 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers, escorted by 44 P-38 Lightning fighters, strike airfields at Wewak and Boram. 48 B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and 2 B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers bomb and strafe Alexishafen and Bogadjim areas. A-20 Havoc light bombers hit dumps in Gasmata area. B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb Babo and Adodo.
