North Africa. The British Eighth Army captured Jebel Terhouna, North West of Enfidaville.

Combined Chiefs of Staff issues directive making British General Morgan Chiefs of Staff to Supreme Allied Commander (Designate). This title, Chief of Staff, Supreme Allied Commander (COSSAC), describes both the office and the man who heads it. Chief of Staff, Supreme Allied Commander (COSSAC) is the seed of Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Force. It is charged with continuance of planning for eventual invasion of Western Europe.

Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). Northwest African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers and B-26 Marauder medium bombers bomb Arbatax harbour, vehicles, and railroad at Mateur, and Mateur- Bedja road. B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers attack vessels North of Sicily. Northwest African Tactical Air Force (NATAF) fighters, Light bombers, and medium bombers carry out large number of missions against positions in Northeast Tunisia and particularly along battle line area from near Pont-du-Fahs North to the Mediterranean as United States II Corps begins drive on Bizerte in Jefna-Sidi Meftah area.

Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers attack a landing ground, troops, and artillery North of Enfidaville. P-40 fighters fly escort, sweeps, and fighter-bomber missions in battle area.

Tenth Air Force. 9 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25 Mitchell medium bombers bomb Mandalay warehouse area. 5 P-40 fighters damage approaches to bridge at Shaduzup.

Fourteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-40 fighters strafe 15 truck convoy South West of Lungling.

Fifth Air Force. Single United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers bomb airfields and town area at Finschhafen and score direct hit on cargo vessel Southeast of Kavieng.

Seventh Air Force. 12 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-24 Liberator heavy bombers from Funafuti attack Tarawa Atoll, bombing gas storage and barracks areas.
