In the Mediterranean. Allied Fighters from Malta attacked
railways in Sicily.
Russian Front. In Chuguyev area, Southeast of Kharkov, Soviet
troops drove the Wehrmacht forces back and repelled six counter-attacks.
In Burma. Japanese pressure on the Mayu river led to withdrawal
of allied forces.
Northwest African Air Forces (NAAF). Weather cancels Northwest
African Strategic Air Force (NASAF) bomber operations. Tactical
fighters and Light bombers fly numerous armed reconnaissance
missions and sweeps over Sedjenane, Captain Serrat, and Sidi
Nsir area and attack ground forces East of Gafsa in preparation
for allied assault. Northwest African Coastal Air Force (NACAF)
aircraft continue coastal and sea patrols. United States II
Corps opens offensive to the East from Gafsa area after air
and artillery preparation.
Ninth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF) P-40
fighters fly scramble and fighter-bomber operations as British
ground forces continue local operations in preparation for
assault on Mareth Line.
Tenth Air Force. 8 United States Army Air Force (USAAF) B-25
Mitchell medium bombers again attack bridge at Myitnge, damaging
North approach. 14 P-40 fighters hit bridges at Kadrangyang
and Northeast of Myitkyina and motor pool at Hpunkizup. The
motor pool suffers considerable damage.

Mitchell medium bombers bomb Langgoer.
Thirteenth Air Force. United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers continue harassing raids
against Vila, Kahili, and Ballale.
Eleventh Air Force. 8 United States Army Air Force (USAAF)
P-38 Lightning fighters patrol Kiska without making contacts.
