The British Royal Air Force (RAF) raided Berlin during night
for three hours. Targets which were hit included West power
station,
BMW
aero-engine works and Salzhof oil reservoir. Attacks continued
on military objectives concealed in Black Forest, and large
fires and explosions ensued. Railway sidings at Krefeld, Hamm,
Soest, Mannheim and Ehrang bomb�d with success. Other formations
bombed gun emplacements and aerodromes on French coast.
Italian aircraft raided Haifa but were driven off.
Big Luftwaffe air attacks repulsed over Southeast England,
objectives being the British Royal Air Force (RAF) aerodromes.
In morning battle 34 Luftwaffe raiders shot down in one hour.
Bombs caused slight damage to one factory in Thames Valley.
During afternoon, Luftwaffe planes crossed Kent coast but
were driven back. Later, Five formations crossed North Kent
coast. Fire was caused to industrial plant on north bank of
Thames. During night Luftwaffe aircraft penetrated into London
area and high explosive and incendiary bombs were dropped.
Elephant and Castle district suffered severely.
Damage done in North-West. Attack on cathedral town in West
Country. Forty six Luftwaffe raiders destroyed. Britain lost
19 fighters, but pilots of twelve safe.
