Events On This Day

The British Admiralty announced that the trawlers HMS Drummer and HMS Oswaldian had been sunk by mines. Greek steamer Loula reported sunk by Italian submarine.

Hampered by cloud the British Royal Air Force (RAF) abandoned many targets. Le Bourget airport and aerodromes in Holland and North Germany were bombed.

Middle East Headquarters stated that during first phase of operations in Western Desert, now ending, a small British mobile force had completely dominated Eastern Libya.

Oadweina (British Somaliland) occupied by Italians.

Enemy aircraft raided Haifa, but only slight damage and few casualties resulted.

Luftwaffe bomber shot down off the East Coast.

First contingent of airmen from Southern Rhodesia Air Force (SRAF) for service with the British Royal Air Force (RAF) arrived at British port.
