had been destroyed by our light forces. Two others had taken
refuge at Tangier. Armed merchant cruisers HMS Laurentic on
3 November 1940
and HMS Patroelus reported sunk by
U-99,
and the trawler HMS Tilburyness lost through Luftwaffe air
action.
Adverse weather hampered the British Royal Air Force (RAF)
operations, but raids Qwere made on Channel ports.
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombed Italian. Embarkation
ports on east coast, including Bari and Brindisi, and Santo
Quaranti, principal port for Epirus and Macedonian fronts.
Small daylight raids when bombs fell in London area and at
widespread points in Midlands and East Anglia.
Night raids were resumed and the Luftwaffe appeared over London
and many parts of England and Scotland. Southeast coast town
attacked by three bombers. Workers leaving factory in London
area machine-gunned.
The Greek War, It was reported that town and valley of Koritza
were being bombarded by Greeks, and that guerilla leader,
Varda, and his band had cut off Italian force, numbering 30,000,
near Janina. Stated that heavy naval engagement was in progress
off Corfu, and that Italian warship had been sunk. British
troops landed in Crete.
Tangier taken over by Spain.
