Luftwaffe aircraft made further raids on unarmed vessels in
the North sea. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) aeroplanes
made contact on several occasions, shot down three raiders
and disabled a fourth. One crashed in Yorkshire another in
the sea off the mouth of Tyne.
Fighting was intense at Summa in Karelian Isthmus, this being
the third day of the new Russian offensive. For fierce attacks
repulsed by the Finns.
An army communique stated that the Finns had brought down
at least 13 planes over Karelian Isthmus. Mass Russian raids
in Finland, the worst being at Kuopio. The attack went as
far west as Pori, on Bothnian coast.
The Norwegian ship Tempo was sunk by bombing of the North
East coast.
New Anglo Turkish trade agreement signed in London.
