Events On This Day

The British Coastal Command aircraft scored direct hit on enemy supply ship off Norway. No night bombing operations by the British Royal Air Force (RAF) owing to bad weather.

The war against Italy, the British Royal Air Force (RAF) Bombers made first raid on South Italy and successfully attacked oil tanks and other targets at Naples. Air battle over Mersa Matruh,when large force of Italian bombers and lighters attacked the town. Eight destroyed by the British Royal Air Force (RAF).

Reduced daylight air activity over Britain. Bombs fell on towns in Southeast districts and South Wales and Midlands. Short night raid on London met by extensive barrage. Bombs fell inner and outer suburb, and also in East Anglia and a Midlands town.

No Luftwaffe aircraft shot down.

The Greek War, Slight Italian advance southwards down West coast stubbornly contested by Greeks. Greek naval forces bombarded enemy right flank.
