The British Admiralty announced that the armed merchant cruiser
HMS Dunwegan Cuastle had been sunk by U-boat.
During the night the British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombed
fighting installations, aero engine factory and aerodrorne
at Berlin oil plants at Cologne, and Magdeburg goods yards
at Hamm, Soest, Osnabrugk and Hanover shipping at Emden various
industrial targets and aerodromes.
Fleet Air Arm and Coastal Command. attacked oiltanks at Rotterdam.
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) successfully bombed ltalian
air bases in Libya. Raid also made on Agordat, Eritrea.
Luftwaffe attacks against aerodromes in Southeast area renewed.
Raids raise made on aerodromes in Thames estuary and on one
in East Anglia.
Fierce battle fought over London area during afternoon and
evening.
Waves of bombers appeared over Northeast town during the night,
and over North West coastal district. Considerable damage
done and a number of casualties.
Eighty-eight Luftwaffe aircraft destroyed. Thirty-nine British
machines lost, but pilots of 25 safe.
