Mr Chamberlain announced that it had been decided to abandon
the idea of taking Trondheim from the South, and that all
British forces had been withdrawn from Aandalsnes and transferred
elsewhere.
Mr Chamberlain, and later the War office announced that Allied
troops south of Trondheim had been withdrawn and successfully
embarked at Aandalsnes and neighbouring ports.
German force reported to have reached Aandalsnes during the
afternoon.
King Haakon, and other members of the Royal family and Norwegian
ministers embarked at Molde for another destination in Norway.
In Narvik area, detachments were in contact with the German
forces.
The British air ministry announced that the British Royal
Air Force (RAF) had again bombed aerodromes at Stavanger,
Aalborg and Fornebu.
The submarines HMS Tarpon and HMS Sterlet were overdue and
and presumed lost.
The British Admiralty announced the loss of the sloop HMS
Bittern.
Paris reported that French submarine had torpedoed a U-boat.
Also, that a French patrol ship had been mined, and they destroyer
seriously damaged.
Mr Chamberlain announced that a British and French battle
fleet was in the eastern Mediterranean, and on way to Alexandria.
