Despite snowstorms the British Royal Air Force (RAF) raided
Berlin, oil plants at Homburg, Sterkrade and Magdeburg, shipyards
and docks at Bremen, Wilhelmshaven, Den Helder, Ymuiden, Flushing
and Ostend. Other aircraft attacked railway Communications
and, 29 aerodromes, searchlight batteries, and antiaircraft
gun positions.
The British Admiralty announced that British naval aircraft
had attacked Maltezana, capital of Stampalia, Dodecanese.
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) made numerous raids and
reconnaissances in Libya, objectives included Bomba, Tobruk,
Menastir and Sollum. Cairo reported Italians had been routed
near Blue Nile by Sudanese frontier force.
Luftwaffe day raiders attempted four attacks on London, but
few reached the capital. Three raids on Portsmouth area, damaging
houses and shops. Scottish auxiliary squadron shot down 8
Messerschmitts
Bf 109 over Kent. Italian bombers, protected by Luftwaffe
fighters, took part. Intermittent night attacks. Hotel, block
of Hats and Roman Catholic church struck in London. Merseyside
and Midlands raided.
Luftwaffe lost 30 aircraft. Seven British fighters missing,
but pilots of five safe.
Athens communiqué stated that Greek troops held their
positions against enemy attacks.
Rome reported break in Greek line at southeast tip of Albania.
Italian forces reported to have landed at Corfu.
