The British War office announced that from
11
March 1940 Scotland north of Caledonian Canal, would become
a banned area and that only persons specially exempted would
be permitted to remain or enter.
Finns evacuated, the fortress of Koivisto. Defence of Viipuri
continued, although the town was now in ruins. New defence
line is prepared in the West.
Luftwaffe aeroplanes flew over Paris, but were driven off
by anti-aircraft fire.
The Swedish steamer Santos was reported sunk in the North
sea.
The survivors of torpedoed tanker British Endeavour were landed
at Madeira.
Mr Summer Welles saw count Ciano, and Signor Mussolini in
Rome.
