The British War office announced that north of Trondheim British troops had a sharp engagement with the German forces, who had counter attacked, also that in the South British and Norwegian forces were resisting German pressure.

During the night of 22-23 April 1940 the British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers attacked Fornebu and Kjeller aerodromes, near Oslo. Another force of bomber aircraft raided Danish aerodrome at Aalborg for a third time.

It was reported that eighth meeting of supreme War Council was held in Paris on 22-23 April 1940

Sharp but indecisive air encounter on the Western front between large numbers of Messerschmitt Bf 109, which came over Luxembourg end of Maginot line, and Hurricane fighters.

British steamer, Lolworth mined of southeast coast.

Sir John Simon introduced second war budget. principal changes included increased postal, telegraph and telephone rates, and higher duties on spirits, beer and tobacco.
