Luftwaffe bombers over Thames estuary driven off by the British Royal Air Force (RAF) fighters.

Russians believed to have captured advanced positions of the Mannerheim line.

The British Admiralty announced that the German steamer Wakama had been scuttled off the coast of Brazil, after interception by HMS Dorsetshire. It was also reported that the German steamer Wolfsburg had also been scuttled off the Brazilian coast.

The British trawler Togimo and the Swedish steamer Orania was reported sunk by U-boat.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) planes made reconnaissance flights over north-west Germany.

Second Australian Imperial Force arrived in Palestine.
