Finnish resistance to the Russian advance continued. The Finns
claimed that they had retaken Petsamo. The Russians claimed
to have captured the islands of Hogland, Seiskari, Lavansaari
and Tytarsaari in the Gulf of Finland
The British Royal Air Force (RAF) bombers attacked the German
warships in the vicinity of Heligoland. Direct hits were obtained
with heavy bombs. A Messerschmitt fighter was shot down. All
aircraft returned. The British Royal Air Force (RAF) patrol
plane destroyed a U-boat in the North sea.
Reports were on hand of the destruction of three other U-boats,
and the capture of a four in the Bristol Channel.
Through the Swedish government, the new Finnish cabinet enquired
whether the Russian government was prepared to open, peace
negotiations.
There was minor artillery action on the Western front.
The Swedish steamer Rudolt was sunk off the British coast.
