Events On This Day

Enemy bombers, twice raided Helsinki, and did damage in the hospital quarter. Other towns were also bombed.

Finns counter-attacked against Russian advances on Kemijaervi and drove the enemy back twenty miles. Successes also claimed in the North of Lake Ladoga. Enemy attacks in Karelian Isthmus repulsed.

Western front reported renewed air activity over Lorraine and Alsace.

The British Royal Air Force (RAF) coastal command, machine cooperated with British warships in the rescue of Swedish sailors adrift on a raft in the North sea.

Lieutenant Commander Bickford of HMS Salmonwas awarded the DSO.

The Italian ship Comitas was mined off North Holland.

The French government issued the yellow book containing French diplomatic documents of the prewar period.

Newly arrived Canadian division had their first ceremonial parade at Aldershot.
