Events On This Day

The German army meets the advancing Russian army at Brest-Litovsk, and in the south the Russians reached the Hungarian frontier.

Adolf Hitler entered Danzig, at noon, and later broadcast a speech defending his actions in Poland and its policy towards Russia.

On the Western front, German attacks between the district east of the Moselle and the region of Bitsch were repulsed.
