Events On This Day

The British Prime Minister returned from visiting the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) after meeting of supreme War Council in Paris.

Further Russian advances in Northeast of Finland, threatening the highway to the Arctic and rearguard of Finnish troops near Petsamo. Helsinki and other coastal towns bombed by Russian aircraft. Russian battleship reported sunk by Finnish batteries at Koivisto.

The German liner, Columbus was scuttled by her crew 300 miles of united states of America coast.

Marked activity of contact units reported from the Western front.

Eleven more cases of bombing and machine-gunning of fishing made known. Of these, Active and Zealous were sunk. the British steamer City of Kobe was sunk after hitting a mine, after surviving Luftwaffe attacks.

Three neutral ships reported sunk through enemy action. The Norwegian steamer Glitrejell. The Danish steamers Jytte and Bogoe.
