Sharp fighting was reported from the Western front
Finnish and Russian talks, opened in Moscow.
The American ambassador in Moscow, Mr Steinhardt, expressed
to M Molotov. The hope that ample time would be given to these
discussions.
The British also find it impossible to accept Adolf
Hitler's proposals, since aggression cannot be a basis
for peace, promises of the present German government, was
declared in the House of Commons.
It was announced that the German liner Cap Norte had been
captured.
