Events On This Day

The King and the president of the French Republic, replied to the offer of good services made by Queen Wilhelmina and King Leopold.

On the Western front attempts by the Germans to gain control were repulsed.

Russian government issued a statement expressing dissatisfaction at the results hitherto reached in the Finnish negotiations.

Mr Churchill broadcast a speech on the situation at the end of 10 weeks of war.

Among the thousands of persons arrested following the Munich bomb explosion were said to be Monarchists, Jews, social Democrats and members of the Gestapo itself.
