Adolf Hitler abolishes the War Ministry and creates the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (High Command of the Armed Forces) on 4 February 1938, giving him direct control of the Wehrmacht. In addition, Adolf Hitler sacks political and military leaders considered unsympathetic to his philosophy or policies. General Werner von Fritsch is forced to resign as Commander of Chief of the Wehrmacht following accusations of homosexuality, and replaced by General Walther von Brauchitsch. Foreign Minister Konstantin von Neurath is sacked and replaced by Joachim von Ribbentrop.

On 4 February 1938, The German cabinet met for the last time.

12 February 1938 Austrian Chancellor Kurt von Schuschnigg of Austria meets Adolf Hitler at Berchtesgaden on 12 February 1938, and, under threat of invasion, is forced to yield to German demands for greater National Socialists participation in the Austrian government.

Adolf Hitler on 20 February 1938, assured the Deputies in the Reichstag that no problems existed between the National Socialist State and the Wehrmacht Armed Forces, while spoke about the German destiny to annex Austria.

On 20 February 1938, Republican troops are forced to abandon Teruel and follow the highway to Valencia, under pressure from Moroccan troops commanded by General Yagüe. End of the Battle of Teruel.
