The Hermann Künne is commissioned.
12 to 13 December 1939
The Hermann Künne carries out mine laying operation against
Newcastle. Along with the destroyers, Erich Steinbrinck, Bruno
Heinemann, Friedirch Ihn and Richard Beitzen. On the way back
meet up with light cruisers Nürnberg, Leipzig and Köln.
Nürnberg and Köln are both hit by torpedoes from
the British submarine HMS Salmon escort the returning ships.
8 April 1940
The Hermann Künne takes part in operation Weserübung
(Invasion of Denmark and Norway) along with Anton Schmitt,
Wilhlem Heidkamp, Diether von Roeder, Erich Giese, Erich Koellner,
Bernd von Arnim, Hans Lüdemann, Georg Thiele and Wolfgang
Zenker.
13 April 1940
The Hermann Künne is scuttled and sunk undamaged due
to there being no ammuntion or fuel. Position 68° 31N
17° 35E.

Was born on 14 June 1919 and served aboard Z19 Hermann Künne
Destroyer as a "Maschinist and a Faehnrich", He
also took part in operation Weserübung (Invasion of Denmark
and Norway). Erich Mueller sadly passed away in 1986.
