History

The German auxiliary cruiser Atlantis (HSK 2), designated by the Kriegsmarine as Schiff 16 and known to the Royal Navy as Raider-C, was a modified German Hilfskreuzer of the Kriegsmarine, The German auxiliary cruiser Atlantis sank or captured 22 ships totaling 144,384 tons. Atlantis was sunk on November 21, 1941. She was commanded by Bernhard Rogge, who was awarded the Oak Leaves to the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Atlantis sank 10 ships in 1940, capturing another 3. In 1941 it sank 6 and captured another 3.
